Get ready for an exciting conclusion to the 2025 Ohio State Fall Invitational! The final day promises to be a thrilling showcase of swimming talent.
The Big Event:
The 200 IM, 100 free, 200 fly, and 200 back will take center stage, following the new NCAA Championship schedule. This meet is a preview of the upcoming NCAA event, but with a unique twist - the 1650 free, usually held on the opening night at NCAAs, was swum earlier today.
Ohio State's Unique Approach:
Ohio State's 10-lane pool will be fully utilized for the finals, with 10 swimmers competing in each A-final. This is a departure from the traditional eight-lane setup seen at other midseason invites, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.
Women's 200 IM - A Dominant Performance:
UCLA senior Rosie Murphy dominated the women's 200 IM, winning by over two seconds. Her time of 1:54.89 shattered her previous personal best of 1:55.93. Ohio State's Paige Delma finished second, just shy of her lifetime best, while Kim Herkle, a senior at Louisville, rounded out the top three.
Men's 200 IM - Indiana's Owen McDonald Shines:
Indiana's Owen McDonald dominated the men's 200 IM, winning by a comfortable margin of 2.53 seconds. His time of 1:40.90 was just off his national-leading time from prelims. McDonald, a former Big Ten champion and NCAA medalist, is in top form.
Women's 100 Freestyle - Indiana Freshman Makes a Splash:
Indiana freshman Liberty Clark continued her impressive debut, winning the women's 100 free in 46.87. Her time broke the 47-second barrier for the first time and set a new Indiana program record. Louisville's Julia Dennis finished second, with teammate Caroline Larsen close behind.
