The stage is set for an extraordinary baseball showcase! The 2026 DREAM Series, an annual development camp, is about to begin its ninth edition, and it's bound to be a thrilling affair.
But what makes this event so special?
This prestigious camp, a collaboration between MLB and USA Baseball, is dedicated to nurturing the skills of exceptional high school athletes, with a focus on diversity. From January 16-19, Tempe Diablo Stadium in Arizona will host a gathering of current and former professional players, all united in their mission to mentor the next generation of minority pitchers and catchers.
Here's a glimpse of what's in store: over the four-day camp, participants will engage in rigorous workouts, receive elite coaching, attend off-field seminars, and undergo athletic testing through the innovative Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) Performance Assessment. This assessment employs cutting-edge technology to evaluate cognitive abilities, processing speed, athletic prowess, and on-field talent. The collected data will be shared with all 30 MLB Clubs for the MLB Draft and with USA Baseball for their national team selection.
And here's where it gets even more exciting: players will receive personalized reports with their evaluation data and training tools to enhance their skills. But that's not all—the Rapsodo technology will provide real-time performance metrics, including launch angle, exit velocity, and spin rate, offering players and coaches valuable insights for improvement.
The coaching staff is a dream team in itself! Led by seasoned former big league players, coaches, and managers, the 18-member staff boasts an incredible 170-plus seasons of major league experience. Among them are Marquis Grissom, a 17-year MLB veteran and World Series champion, Mike Harkey, a longtime coach and World Series winner, and Darren Oliver, a 20-year professional. These coaches are not just experienced; they're also connected to USA Baseball, with some having played or coached for the national team.
And this is the part most people miss: the DREAM Series isn't just about skill development; it's a celebration of USA Baseball's rich history. This year, six players who have represented the United States in international competitions will be in attendance, including Samir Mohammed, Taytum Reeves, Dexter McCleon Jr., and Tristin Gaines, a two-time gold medalist. Additionally, two world champions, Paris Head and Anthony Murphy, will be joining the event.
The talent doesn't stop there. Many of the 80 attendees have already committed to top-tier programs across the nation, with 27 earning DI offers. The Southeastern Conference leads the way with 14 commits, followed by Texas Tech with three.
But wait, there's more! The DREAM Series also welcomes back three former participants who have gone on to play for USA Baseball national teams: Jo Adell, Termarr Johnson, and Braden Montgomery. These players are living proof of the DREAM Series' impact and its role in shaping the future of baseball.
