So, without further ado, let's dive into today's highlights:

MØL – “YOUNG” & “GARLAND”

Prepare for a sonic assault! Danish post-metal titans MØL have unleashed two colossal tracks, “YOUNG” and “GARLAND,” from their upcoming album, Dreamcrush, which is slated for release on January 30th via Nuclear Blast. These songs are massive, showcasing MØL's signature blend of ethereal soundscapes and crushing heaviness. Perfect for fans of Deafheaven and Alcest.

CARDINALS – “BARBED WIRE”

Hailing from Ireland, Cardinals are back with another taste of their highly anticipated debut album, Masquerade ([https://www.brooklynvegan.com/irish-band-cardinals-announce-debut-album-masquerade-share-title-track/]), due out on February 13th. “BARBED WIRE” is a brooding, atmospheric track steeped in local history. Frontman Euan Manning explains, "It’s very much inspired by the history of our city and the Gaol house that stood on the south gate bridge many years ago, lyrically I had hoped to evoke images of silhouetted city walls and security fences. Sometimes aesthetics can carry a song from its inception to its completion. Kevin Barry’s novel ‘City of Bohane’ also served as inspiration for a gothic re-imagining of Cork.” The black and white music video is a stunning visual companion to the song's dark beauty.

BILL FOX – “ALASKA” & “PALE BLUE EYES” (THE VELVET UNDERGROUND COVER)

Ohio's own cult folk artist, Bill Fox, is following up his recent album Resonance ([https://www.brooklynvegan.com/album-reviews-tunde-adebimpe-the-convenience-bill-fox-chime-oblivion-gorkys-zygotic-mynci/]) (his first in over a decade!) with a captivating two-track single. This release features the original track “ALASKA” alongside a heartfelt cover of The Velvet Underground's classic, “Pale Blue Eyes.” Fox's raw, intimate vocals and delicate guitar work create a truly mesmerizing listening experience. Resonance, released earlier this year, marked a significant return for Fox, and this single proves he's not slowing down.

ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ (EX ARCH ENEMY) – “THE ROOM WHERE SHE DIED”

Big news in the metal world! Alissa White-Gluz (also the sister of Jasamine White-Gluz of No Joy) has announced her departure from Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy after over a decade as their vocalist. But that's not all – she's also launching her solo career! While full details of her debut album are still under wraps, her first single, “THE ROOM WHERE SHE DIED,” is a ferocious statement of intent. White-Gluz showcases both her signature harsh vocals and surprisingly beautiful clean singing. She says: “‘The Room Where She Died’ is a song that feels truly satisfying to me; like I get to express myself in so many ways that have been dormant for years. This upcoming album is diverse.” This track definitely pushes boundaries and hints at an exciting new chapter for the vocalist. Controversy Alert: Some fans might be surprised by the blend of harsh and clean vocals. What do you think of this new direction for Alissa?

PULP – “THE MAN COMES AROUND” (JOHNNY CASH COVER)

Indie darlings Pulp have put their unique spin on a country classic! They've shared their cover of Johnny Cash's “The Man Comes Around,” originally recorded for the TV limited series The Hack. This cover will now be available as part of a new 12" single. It's fascinating to hear Pulp's distinctive sound applied to such an iconic song.
