Honor is gearing up for mass production of the Robot Phone in the first half of 2026.
When the initial teaser appeared, we thought the Honor Robot Phone looked impressive yet wondered whether a functional prototype would ever exist. Indeed, Honor has demonstrated prototypes, but the company saved its grand reveal for MWC 2026, scheduled for March. So, is this just a concept device that won’t reach consumers?
Not so. A Weibo leakster, SmartPikachu, claims the Robot Phone will enter mass production in the first half of next year. It remains unclear whether the plan targets a global market or a China-only launch, but the intent to bring this striking device to customers is clear.
Robot Phone at a glance
If you missed the first reveal, here’s a refresher: a gimbal camera—resembling a compact DJI Osmo Pocket rather than the enhanced optical image stabilization seen on some rivals—stows away in the back and can extend to form the “head” of the robot.
The official teaser shows it fitting into a shirt pocket for on-the-go vlogging, or mounting it on a bicycle or car for adventures. But there’s more to this concept than a quirky accessory.
The device will feature an AI image-recognition system capable of detecting emotions. With the head able to rotate to survey its surroundings—including you—it promises a more cinematic, movie-like AI experience than a simple chat-based assistant.
In terms of practicality, this concept is far more intricate than earlier pop-up camera ideas. Still, innovation is exciting, and this design is hard to ignore.
Official confirmation of a launch date remains pending, but August has been floated as a potential window for release.
