A millionaire GP, who owns a brewery, a charter airline, and 14 hotels, including a 35-storey Sofitel hotel in Sydney, has been found guilty of breaching conditions on his registration by administering up to 100μg of fentanyl as conscious sedation. Despite his estimated worth of $667 million, Dr. Jerry Schwartz has remained on the medical register, continuing to work as a part-time GP and cosmetic doctor. The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal determined that he originally had conditions placed on him in 2013 following a performance review, which raised concerns about his clinical judgment and prescribing records. Dr. Schwartz plans to appeal the decision, describing it as 'victimisation' and expressing his intention to challenge the tribunal's findings.
