Saint Eunan's College students are frustrated and disrespected by the government's inaction on their school's poor conditions. They have taken their campaign for school extension funding to Main Street in Letterkenny, gaining hundreds of signatures from the public. The students highlight the school's decades-long battle for additional classrooms, with overcrowding, inadequate toilet facilities, and mold-infested classrooms. The school was excluded from the first tranche of a €7.55 billion national schools investment programme, which has left the plans for a new extension at a standstill. Only one school in Donegal, St Columba's College, has been supported to go to tender or construction over the next two years. Students and parents are concerned about the safety and well-being of the 1,000 students, with the current state of facilities representing a failure of the state to meet its basic duty of care. The Board of Management of Saint Eunan's College has called for an urgent meeting with the Minister for Education, the Planning and Building Unit, and senior political representatives to establish a concrete roadmap for the project. A petition has been launched for a review of the funding snub, and the Minister for Education has yet to confirm a visit to the school.
