Stratford-based recycling company Unimetals has filed for liquidation, leaving employees and stakeholders concerned about the future. The company, which operates dozens of sites across the UK, including London, Halesowen, Staffordshire, Greater Manchester, and Devon, has been working tirelessly to explore every possible option to secure new financing. Despite substantial interest and attempts at completing a deal, no transaction was concluded, leading to the unfortunate decision to liquidate. Consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has stepped in to assist with the next steps, and Unimetals is prioritizing a safe, responsible, and transparent liquidation process. The company acknowledges the distressing news for its employees, who have been dedicated to the business since its acquisition of Sims Metal's UK-based business in 2024.
